~*Open House*~

Hello Dear Friends!  Yesterday was my official 'Grand Opening' Open House for my teeny~tiny shop... and I am feeling so very blessed!  First, let me give a huge THANK YOU to my loving family and cherished friends!  My husband Tony, sister~in~law Robin, brother~in~law Jimmy, and my Momma went above and beyond to lend helping hands of work, guidance, and support!  I couldn't have done this without them.

(front yard... all set up for the Open House)

Another huge THANK YOU goes to my very dear Oklahoma friends!  Ginger, PatiJane, and Ann drove up to visit... and see the shop.  These girls are so sweet and have hearts of GOLD!  Getting together with them at any time is always fun and great for the soul!  I was so tickled to see them!  (and am thrilled I get to see them again in a month for the Lenexa hook~in)

Ginger & PatiJane  even brought gifts.  And let me tell ya... the gifts they give are always GREAT!

From PatiJane... a darling woolly pinkeep... and wool pennies & wool so I can make a penny rug.  Oh so lovely!  The pinkeep is reversible too... the other side is brighter & cheery with happy pennies. Thank you PatiJane!
From Ginger... a beautiful penny rug ~ table size, a sweet little red birdie, and another wool penny kit!  Thank you Ginger!  And the card is one of her own designs.  :-)
Ginger and PatiJane have a cutter that makes the most~perfect penny circles.  How awesome!  Their works are done up so magnificently too.  Their craftsman ship is superb!

A big THANK YOU goes to all my customers too!  I was delighted to see familiar and new faces though out the day.  We had visitors drive from Topeka, Emporia, Madison, Council Grove, and Dunlap... and, of course, locals from here in Americus too.  Thank you all so very much for stopping by.  We look forward to seeing you again!

For the Open House... I offered a door prize.  It is this hand hooked, primitive heart rug... made by me.  At the end of the day, I shook the bucket of names, held it high, and let my BIL Jimmy pick the winner.  He pulled out the winner... Karen H. from here in Americus!
After we cleaned up the wares left in the yard... and closed up shop... we drove into Emporia and had a great Mexican supper with our Oklahoma friends.  That was a lovely way to top off the day!

And... even though I was completely out of energy... I decided to dye some DMC last night!  I have more heart orders to fill... and a shop that needs re~stocked.  I will be crafting away this week!
 Wishing you all warm smiles...

Betty

~*Please Meet Lucy*~

Hello Dear Friends!  Oh... I have such happy news!  Last week when my folks adopted Scarlet, I browsed the shelter website... and spotted this adorable little chocolate brown puppy.  For a week I did everything I could to talk myself out of even thinking of adopting her... we already have lots of four~legged loved ones!  But then Tony said to me yesterday, "We should just go get her.  You NEED her."  Well... maybe I do!

So... we did today!  YAH!

Please meet Lucy...
She doesn't stand still long, so I wasn't able to capture her sweet face in a photo.  But let me tell ya... those eyes and that little nose will steal your heart!

She and Trinity have played and played and played all day!
She stop to take one short power nap on my lap.
Oh the joy a puppy can bring!

We adopted her from the City of Emporia Animal Shelter.  I strongly believe... adopt a pet... don't buy.  All of our four~legged babies have been rescue... and most have adopted US!  Lucy is the first one we brought here.  Living in the country... they have a way of finding their way here and claiming a new home.  <3 font="font" size="5">  We love them all!

Lucy is a mix breed, of course.  We aren't sure what she is a mix of... terrier/dachshund maybe?  She is a mix of puppy kisses, hugs, and playtime for sure!

I have been meaning to post a reminder too... this Saturday, January 26th is the Open House/Grand Opening of my teeny~tiny little shop.  If you are near & want to stop by... I would be thrilled to see ya!  My sweet SIL, Robin, is baking cookies... and I am going to have some sort of a door prize.  We have been busy making handmades... and finding new junky treasures.

Stop by for some crafty/junky fun!

Wishing you all warm smiles...

~*What's Happening?!*~

Hello Dear Friends!  Oh goodness... where have I been?  Why haven't I posted? Well... the simple answer is just that I have been busy.  Busy crafting, auctioning, piddling in my shop... being a Mom & a wife... and all sorts of stuff.  I'm so sorry for not keeping up with my blog.  I am really trying to do better!  Honest!

Before I get too far into this post... I have been working hard on special orders.  Vikki, Darlene, Trudy, & Kim... your hearts are all almost finished.  I had hoped to have them all in the mail by tomorrow (Tuesday)... but it may not happen until Wednesday.  I want them all to be perfect for you.  Thank you all so much for your orders... and for your patience.
I did take a crafty break yesterday so I could attend a local estate auction.  It has been a few months since I had been to one... and it was long over due for me!  I LOVE auctions!  Here are a few of the treasures I acquired...
They aren't anything extremely precious or valuable... but they will help restock my shop & booth.

Can you help me with this piece?  What is it?  It measures about 7 by 4 inches... and is marked Germany 16 on the bottom.  A man at the auction told me it was an ashtray & seemed interested in buying it from me since I had won the bid for a box lot of items that it was included in... but then didn't go any further with the conversation.  Could it be for pipes?  If you know, I would love it if you could share your knowledge with me.  Please and thank you!
Updating to share... Maureen kindly told me the dish is for spoons.  I found this one on Ebay... cool!  Click here to see it & what the seller has to say.

I also nabbed a great cutter quilt.  This was only $6... and will be great for some pillows I hope to sew up.
It appears to be hand stitched and pieced...

In my auction loot, is also a coffee table that was a $5 winning bid.  It is very retro-70s... and basic.  This is not a picture of it... but I hope to do a re-do similar to this...
This awesome, turquoise-ey colored table is one that my niece, Tamara recently purchased from a very cool shop in Madison, KS.  The shop is called Rhinestones & Rust.  It is a new shop and is owned by three great gals!  If you are ever in the area, I strongly recommend that you stop by to check it out.  Online, you can like them on Facebook & see all their pictures... you will be very happy you did!

My last post showed my living room clutter.  Thank you for letting me know I am not alone.  I wish I could tell you my mess has been cleaned up, but it still looks like this...
One more thing to share with you.  Please meet Scarlet!  My folks just adopted her today.  Isn't she just the sweetest looking little girl?!
Wishing you all warm smiles... Betty

~*Studio ~ Away From Studio*~

Hello My Dear Friends!  I'm not sure if this post is to show you how busy I'm keeping on my projects... or if it is to share with you my EXTREME cluttery mess!  You see, most of my supplies... well, actually all of my crafty supplies are next door in the shop/studio... unless I'm currently needing them when working in the house.  When it is too cold, too hot, or there just isn't time for me to be next door... it piles up in my corner of the living room.  Oh, what a crafty~mess of clutter I can make!

On one side of my chair... baskets of threads, linen, wool, and what~nots...
On the table on the other side... embroidery scissors & needles... (my beeswax is in the Altoids tin)...
On the arm of the sofa (also next to my chair)... kitties waiting to be stitched up.  Some for a special order... some just 'cause...
On the coffee table... my current needlepunch projects....

Also next to my chair... my hooking frame sits on the floor.  I didn't get a picture of that, but you get the point.  I'm a CLUTTERBUG!

Upon the cabinet behind my chair... this bronze cupid from my Momma.  The sheep doesn't really 'go' with it of course... but it was a cute spot to hold it until I get it taken to the shop.  *smile*
In an old Ironstone platter, also upon the cabinet... some of the needlepunch hearts recently finished.  My SIL, Robin, said they looked like "strawberry hearts"... that is a cute way to describe them!  Two of these are already going to a new home... the others will be in the shop or at the booth... or available online when I can get my selling blog or Etsy shoppe posted.  I'm still trying to work that into my schedule.
I will be in the shop tomorrow afternoon... and hopefully it will be warm enough.  I was in there just a short while ago.  The heater wasn't on last night and it was only 41 degrees.  Brrrrr!  I'm going to have to crank that thing up early tomorrow so I can hold down the shop in semi-warmth!

Please tell me I'm not alone.  Please tell me you (my crafty friends!) have a cluster of clutter too!

Wishing you all warm smiles...

Betty
