~*Giveaway! YES! Giveaway!

Hello Dear Friends!  Yes!  I'm hosting a giveaway!

You know that I have been away from my blog... and totally wrapped up with my weaving loom lately...

So... I thought, what better way to involve you with my loom goodness than to GIVEAWAY A RUG!

One of my friendly blog or Facebook friends will be the new owner of this denim rug!  It measures about 24 by 35 inches (plus the fringe).  I have woven it on poly/cotton threads... using recycled denim.  It is so durable!  It can be flipped... and it can be washed!  (Wash in cold on delicate/gentle cycle... and line dry)
Use it on the floor... it is the perfect size for in front of the kitchen sink... or use it on a table!  Fun, simple, primitive, country, cozy!

To enter...

* Please comment on THIS BLOG POST ONLY... or the Giveaway post on my Facebook page ~ primitivebettys.  (Sorry, but only US and Canada friends please)

* Please become a follower of my blog and/or Facebook page too

* For another chance in the drawing hat... share my blog or Facebook post too!

I will end the Giveaway on March 11th 9pm CST... The winner will be drawn and posted the next morning.

Wishing you all luck... and warm smiles...

~*Still Weaving and Learning as I go...*~

Hello Dear Friends!

Yup, I'm still weaving.  Rug #13 is on my loom now...

I've added a little wool yarn to the beginning of this one for a little variation.  I'll add a matching band to the end too.  Soon, I will be trying to weave some patterns in my rugs... but not just yet...
Here are rugs #10, 11, and 12 all finished...
I've been adding a jean pocket to the back as a label.  I liked using the leather patches from the Levi jeans, but there aren't that many from my stash of jeans... so the pockets are handy.
I do just love these Rainbow rugs!  They are made from recycled tee shirts...
 Fun and bright!

All the rugs above had been done correctly.... BUT... some of my earlier rugs have a bit of a goof-up.  This next photo shows where I messed up... on the fringe...
When I tied the fringe, I used a square knot.  This knot could come undone during washing ... and these rugs are made to be used and washed.

Here is a close-up of the wrong knot...
I should have used a slip knot.  Or heck... maybe I have the knot names all messed up.  However, I do know that the knots used should be secure.  So, the latest rugs where tied that way.  Kind of around and through.  Right?

Well, I am learning... or re~learning.  My high school weaving class was a long time ago!

These rugs with the wrong knots can be finished... and I do plan to fix them in the next couple of days.  I read online that the ends could be turned under and sewn with the sewing machine.  I personally like the fringe, but it probably isn't for everyone... so these rugs will be fringe-less when finished.

Wishing you all warm smiles... I'm back to the loom for the evening!

~*Two Weeks Later...*~

Hello Dear Friends!

I do hope you have been doing well... and staying warm.  Two weeks ago feels like so long ago!  That is how long it has been since I last updated.  Well... I have been keeping my fingers busy... punching, stitching, weaving, hooking and all...

Here is only SOME of what I've been working on...

~*Orange Posies*~ Primitive Oxford Punch Mat made with wool yarns

Some more punches still in the process of being finished... Oxford and Cameo punches...

My loom is now ready for another rug...

I can now weave with plenty of re~claimed jeans...
 and re~claimed tee shirts...

There are more things finished and waiting to be finished on my work tables.  They will be done soon.  This Thursday evening is the update for Primitive Handmades Mercantile... and I will have several offerings.  We update at 9pm EST.

Also, I sent off my submission for the new Punch Needle and Primitive Stitcher Magazine.  Now I get to work on another... and, if you are like me, we are counting down the days for this great new publication to be mailed to our boxes!  It is going to be GREAT!

I'm back to work... wishing you all warm smiles...

~*Chillin' On Super Bowl Sunday*~

Hello Dear Friends!

When I say chillin'... I REALLY mean chillin'...

bbbrrrrrr.... I stepped out on the back porch to take a  quick picture and was almost blown away by the cold wind!

At least we have a pot of chili simmering on the stove...

I have plenty of projects in the works to keep me busy and warm too...

A new woven rug was started last night...
And a new hooked, scrappy rug too...
And... even a new cross stitch...

Yup, that is a carrot growing there!

Woven Rag Rug #5 was finished last night...
This one is a bit smaller ~ 25 by 33 inches (plus the fringe).  The new one started last night will be about the same size.  These are so much fun!  I've put a shout out to my family and friends asking for old jeans.  I think I'm going to keep making these for awhile!  They make me happy!

I hope you all enjoy the game and the commercials this evening!  Have great fun and party responsibly!  And... may your team win!

Wishing you all warm smiles...
