I can share what they are now...
notebook covers...
I made one for each of my friends that I knew would be at the Lenexa hook-in. They cover an ordinary composition notebook. Once the notebook is filled, it can easily be replaced with a new one... just slide the old out & insert the new. The covers were inspired by Maggie Bonanomi... as they are made from an old army blanket with simple wool applique added for decoration. The applique are all different & I added the initials of my friend to receive them (except for one & she knows why). There is a simple heart or double heart appliqued to the back. Also, on the inside, I made a simple pocket from antique mattress ticking to hold pens & pencils...
Oh... and I lined them with cotton batting. They have a nice, thick feel to 'em.
(The design for the sunflower on this cover came from Kelley... it was a doodle she gave us in the AAPG group.)
I wrapped them all in plain brown craft paper... with a fake daisy tied with jute... (the other gifts are for the kiddos & grand kiddos of my buddies)
They were fun projects to make... and I have ideas & aspirations to make more.
Wishing you all warm smiles...
Betty

ReplyDeleteBetty,
ReplyDeleteThese are just too beautiful! I love them all (but especially the bird and flower one) You did such a great job and what a lucky bunch of friends.
Also, I wanted to let you know, I was checking out past posts of yours last night trying to get an inspiration for a finish for one of your patterns I just finished and of course...I got sidetracked and went over to needleprint.com.
Thanks so much for sharing that site...
You are such an inspiration. I will send a pic of some of your freebies I am finishing.
Hugs!
Kerri
Oh Betty those are beautiful! What a sweet present for your friends! The inside pocket is a great idea. A fun place to write down hooking/applique ideas, doodles, and dyeing formulas. Lucky friends you have! :)
