~*Punching Binding Stitching*~

Hello Dear Friends! Yup... that is what I've been doing in my spare time... if I should dare call it spare time. That may make me find more WORK to get done around the house... and I don't want to do that!

So far I've punched up 9 lil' mats... and 3 of 'em are bound with either yarn or wool strips...

Oh and I have so many MORE ideas in my head that wanna get drawn out. In fact, I stopped by the store yesterday to pick up 4 more yards of Monk's cloth. It is now washed & ready!

These are fun...

I started by tracing a salad plate on the backing. Then punched from the outside to the inside. Why did the insides get 'square' in design? Strange, huh?

I've also been doing some stitching on a new sampler. This one is going to be a larger than most and is inspired by my Great~Great Grandma...

I'm stitching blind... making it up as I go. I'm not 100% sure on all the floss choices yet, but this is what I'm working from...

I would like to take a minute to say THANK YOU for all the kind comments regarding my OOPS with the charting mistake. Things do happen & I definitely know I'm not perfect. I do feel bad for those patterns that have been sold with the error though. No one wants to buy something flawed. I will leave the correction on the sidebar. THANK YOU :)

Wishing you all warm smiles...
Betty

  2. Betty,
When you bind with wool strips, how wide is the binding strip? My first rug I did with wool yarn, but I'm just getting an idea for future projects. I would think that the wool strips would get an exact match for those hard to match colors.

  5. I love the peek of the new sampler! I think the colors are great, especially the blue shades which are my favorite. Can't wait to see this.
Do you have an idea of when you'll finish it?

  6. Do you always wash your monks cloth before you punch or hook (((is it rug hooking non stretchy monks cloth you are using?)))...is it something a person should do all the time(Washing)...would love your advice. Thanks so much, Susan

  7. The sampler pattern probably won't be released until mid to late April. I have to get past the craft show first... and will need to order a frame for it. Thanks for asking! :)

The monk's cloth used for punching is sold at the discount store for about $8 a yard. I do not use this fabric for hooking. For punching though, it is perfect. Washing it first shrinks the fibers & holds the punches much better.

  10. Betty, love your punched mats! I bought an oxford #10 about two years ago but haven't done anything with it yet. Now seeing your projects I really want to get started on something... :(
Do you work outside the home? If so, how do you find the time to do all the crafting that you do!?! That's my biggest obstacle - trying to fit it all in! My friends and I keep saying that our jobs are keeping us from out crafting! LOL!
