~*What's Going On?*~

Hello Dear Friends! It has continued to be a busy summer. With all the kiddo's activities and fun family time... there just isn't much left. I am trying to get things under control... and caught up. Yesterday and today have been spent in working in the yard. Remember our garden? Ya... I almost forgot we had one. The weeds were taking over! After 3 hours of weeding this morning, I have it about 1/2 cleaned out...

You can clearly see there are tons more weeds to remove! I remember having visions of what our garden would look like when we were getting the seeds set... yup, I was thinking grand! Oh well... at least our veggies are growing great & looking healthy. We have potatoes, carrots, cucumbers, tomatoes, peppers (bell & jalapeno), zucchini, cabbage, and dill. Plus... a few bird house gourds growing on the fence and some giant~size sunflower to watch over it all when they are big enough!

However, I did tell my husband today after I quite working... that the reward of growing a garden should be some sort of delectable, sugar~rich, scrumptious dessert... instead of a salad! ha ha

I was a little concerned working in the tall weeds today that I might find a snake or two... but thankfully Brownie kept guard for me the entire time I was working. He is such a good fella!

There are lots of flowers blooming now too, but I only snapped a shot of some of the marigolds. I'll get more photos taken later. Many of the flowers are still too tiny... so it will be another couple of weeks yet...

And yes, I am still stitching. However, the school house sampler is FINISHED... but waiting for a frame. Soon... soon... soon...

Wishing you all warm smiles...

  1. Betty, Brownie has such a magnificent stature and you can tell is very much atune to what is going on around the master. I'm sure Brownie would protect you against any peril. Handsome dog.

  2. I'm so excited about the school house sampler. That is one sampler I can't wait to start. Your dog looks sweet.

  3. Good luck in your gardens! It is a lot of work, but it sounds like you have some great veggies coming in!
Your puppy is adorable! We only have a little shih tzu now -- our other two dogs have passed on. She is not very good at alerting me to critters...... the other two were so good at that! I was just outside with her and a deer was about 6 ft. from me. She just stood there looking at it. It scared the bejeepers out of me when I turned and saw it!
I am so looking forward to seeing your school house sampler! I have been working on one, too, trying to design it from pieces of other patterns that I have. I have each of my grade school teacher's names on it -- with the year I had them -- minus 100 -- to make it seem like an antique! A labor of love, since I am NOT a cross stitch designer by any stretch of the imagination!!
    Have a lovely evening......

  4. You garden is looking great!! The watch dog isn't bad either!! Too cute. Enjoy your week and have fun outside!

  5. Snakes.....? Exactly the reason I don't have a garden. LOL!
I can't wait to see the school hosue sampler.

  6. Looking forward to seeing the sampler .The garden is looking great and I am glad that you had Brownie watching over you.Brownie is a beautiful pal .Hugs,Jen

  7. Can Brownie come do snake patrol at my house??? Unfortunately, my Snow Dog and little Gazoo aren't quite effective..... :o( Sounds like long, but, productive days....You must sleep very soundly at night....Smiles & Hugs ~ Robin

  8. Brownie is sure a strong looking pup! No snakes dare visit your garden! :-) I think your garden is looking fine,,, and can hardly wait to see that giant sized sunflower! My Summer days are whizzing by too... and the weeds here? Yep... they are getting relocated this weekend! ;-)

  9. Brownie is the cutest snake protector I've ever seen, I think my dog would probably run away! We never did get our garden in and I'm so disappointed...hopefully next year. ~Kriss~

  10. What a handsome guardian :) You have been super busy, hope you take time to sit and relax soon.

  11. I do miss my garden this year...although I know I've not time to tend it...they sure can get away from you..but the harvest is always worth all the effort.
