~*I Just Realized Something!*~

And it may be a good tip to pass along....

I have been using the same Cameo punchneedle for over three years now. Lately is has been hard to pick it up to use it... something just didn't feel right about it. I have been using it, but there was a struggle going on with the whole mind/body/desire sorta crafty thing... ya, whatever that means, huh? LOL Several months ago (or longer) I bought a replacement needle thinking that if the current one ever broke I would be lost without my needle. My Cameo has never broken & has been so worth the money I spent on it. However, tonight I had a brainstorm! Maybe my needle was getting dull? After all, I have used it for so long & on so many projects. So I thought I would change out the needle. Sure enough! There is a huge difference in it! It punches like new again! Yipee!

Of course, I have not thrown the old needle away. It is now clearly marked as being my Old Needle & in a safe spot just in case I do need it again.

So... just an FYI... if your punchneedle is feeling a little olde & wonky... maybe it needs a little update with a new needle.

Many smiles your way...
Betty

  1. Thanks for the tip. I wasn't sure if they get dull or not. So next time things are going just right I'll have to give it a try!

  2. Hi Betty,
I'm so glad to have found your blog. . . I came here via RagDoll's blog.
I bought a punch-needle set up several years ago at a quilt show and have never used it! Maybe now I'll get it out and give it a go. Thank you for the inspiration, and the needle 'tip'.
    hugs,

  3. I had that problem too, was struggling with the punch going into the fabric. The fact that I dropped it on the tip a few times, probably didn't help;) I ended up getting another set, so that way I can use two different sized needles without changing out all the time.

  4. Thanks for the heads up. As a fairly new puncher (needler? LOL) I just last weekend finished my second simple NP project. I will tuck this info in the back of my brain for someday when I may need it!

  5. I have the same needle and I would think that since it is surgical quality it should be able to be sharpened. I wonder how you go about that????lol If you find an answer let me know! Dianntha

  7. Frugality is the word of the year around here, so I tried sharpening my needle the other day with a sharpening stone (the one we use for knives) and it worked! Be careful though...it could get TOO sharp...or the point could disappear entirely. :) Merrie
