~*I'm so Excited!*~

Happy Sunday to you all! I've just come across some delightful news & am so surprised, tickled, and touched.... all at one time! Guess you could say, I'm GIDDY! I've just learned that Tammy of Skip To My Ewe has proposed a challenge to her local hooking group. The girls in the challenge were offered two of my Valentine, freebie doodles to hook. Here are two... one finished & one in progress, both of the freebie ~*Hearts Pair 1957*~...

This pillow was hooked by Renee. I so love the scalloped edge & the contrast of pinks and blacks. (Renee runs the Ebay shoppeSkip To My Ewe.)

And this is a work-in-progress by Sheri of Shabby Sheep. Again, I do just love the pinks & blacks together... just brings images (and cravings) to mind of all the yummy Valentine candies! She says that she is pulling some of the darks out to add a grenedine color so her rug (another pillow finish actually) will match a Karen Kahle rug she has hooked.

Now... as the topping on the cake!.... Tammy left me a comment saying that many of the finished pieces & their makers will be at the Lenexa hook-in at the end of February! I'm going to be there too! I get to see them all in person! YIPPEE! It is so GREAT to see folks' finished works using my patterns... or doodle ditties! Not to mention, I get to meet the awesome makers themselves! See.... how exciting?!

All this news comes at the end of a full week for us at home. Trinity had his tonsils & adenoids removed and tubes put in his ears on Friday. He has needed lots of TLC... as any little one would! He is recovering remarkably & has been so brave! Such a strong Little Trooper!

Warm smiles to you all..... Betty

~*Wonders Of Wednesday*~

Hello Friends! Yup.... I'm full of wonders today. I'm wondering most of all where the week has gone! Is it half gone or has it half begun? Is that the proper way to say it... you know, proper grammer and all? Oh well, either it is or it isn't... today is still Wednesday and I still need to get some things (MANY things) accomplished. However, I do have some happy news to report! I'm very proud to announce that I have completed my UFO Challenge rug!

Ta da......

Let me first say, I purchased this pattern, Fracktur Peacock & Tulip, from Maria Barton of Star Rug Company. Maria has many wonderful designs and is a wealth of information. She has been published in Rug Hooking Magazine numerous times with many uniquely, creative patterns... including her whimsical, Iggy. If you aren't familiar with Maria... you should get to know her stuff. She is one talented cookie! Maria has a blog too.... Star Rug Company.

I choose this pattern for a few reasons.... I liked it and it looked like a challenge for me. I normally hook very simple. Yes, this is still a simple rug, but the 'pinwheel' flower has much more detail than I am accustomed to. So...... therefore, t'was a challenge. The flower actually hooked up easier than I had expected it to & I am happy with the results. When I look at Maria's model next to mine though... I much prefer her background. It has much more texture and movement than mine. Every rug is a learning process for me... and I know I still have more to learn. That is okay.... this rug will be displayed proudly in our hall. I have a spot on the wall to hang it.

So, as for today.... the wonders will continue... I wonder what will be on my agenda. Will I be cleaning, cross stitching, hooking, doodling, needle punching, cooking, napping.... or all of the above? Hummmm... guess I'll just have to see.

Please keep a watchin' though.... I do have some things worked up in my lil' brain and hope to bring them to you very soon.

Have a happy day with many smiles!

~* Rug Hooking Challenge *~

Hi Folks! A few months back, I suggested a Hit n' Miss Rug Hooking Challenge to my friends on The Primitive Rug Hookers Group (PRHG on Ebay). Tonight was the finale!

I instructed those that wanted to take part in the challenge pick a shape.... any shape.... and repeat it to make up a design. The rugs had to be a minimum of 10 by 18 inches... and hooked entirely from wooly scraps. We had 12 rugs entered.... all beautiful and very unique!

The winner was Ev (emi1300 on Ebay)! When she sent her photo in, she called her rug 'Scrapbox Fiesta' because it resembled Fiestaware. Ev has a salsa mix HIT!

Happy Hooking!

~*Aaaaahhhhhh FINALLY!*~

It feels like it anyway.... I have FINALLY listed another finished ditty on Ebay! Good golly, it has only been a week or two, but feels like months. Why is that? Maybe it has something to do with the business of Springtime.... or is it just me getting older?

Here is the lil' mat I just put up ~

It was fun hooking this one up. I love to make the hit n' miss rugs (you might have noticed that already! LOL). I think of it as being part of my Spring cleaning.... using up woolly strips from my huge basket full!

In fact, the PRHG is in the beginning of a challenge I have proposed to them. I have challenged the members to hook up a rug using one shape (of their choice) repeatedly & then hooking with worms from their left-over basket ONLY. Which reminds me... I should get busy on my challenge rug!

Have a nice evening!

Smiles & happy stitchin' and hookin' to ya!
